Continuing Client Contact

For just over a year Darcy and I have been sending a monthly newsletter to all of our past clients.  It has been a great success.  We have one deal that is closing in the next few days due only to the newsletter.  The newsletter that we use is one that we get from Prospects Plus.  It allows us to feature a property each month in our newsletter.  One past property management client of Darcy's noticed a listing for some land that another past and now present client had relisted through us.

The long and short is that a deal was reached and should close soon.  What really got me thinking about the effectiveness of the newsletter occurred today.  Another past client called Darcy today to let her know that they had moved from where they had been living out of state to another city in that same state.  She commented how much she loved getting the newsletter each month and didn't want to miss any issues.  She also mentioned that they are considering listing the property that we helped them purchase with us here in the future.

It is really a simple gesture.  The template that we get from Prospects Plus allows us enough customization that it is really easy to get the newsletter printed and sent out.  The hardest part is applying stamps, we hand address them and mail them.  They have certainly paid off already for us, and we expect that they will continue to do so!  Have a great rest of the week!

Fire Dangers

Summertime is the traditional time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.  Here in Cedar City we are situation next to some of the most beautiful mountains imaginable.  Of course that is just our humble opinion.  I just want to add my voice to the throngs of other voices in wishing everyone that chooses to enjoy the outdoors to do so responsibly!

That means watching your fire use.  We have all seen the devastation in California and other places due to fires that have burned out of control.  Currently we are so dry that the Forest Service has relegated fires into approved fire pits only.  Even if you are using an approved fire pit make sure that you are safe.  Keep a bucket of water or dirt nearby to throw on any fire that might start to get away.  Make sure that your fire is cold to the touch before leaving it unattended.  No one wants anyone else to suffer through a wildfire that could have been prevented.  Be safe, but just as importantly, be responsible!  Have a great weekend!

Realtors in Action

Although he is an owner of a competing company I felt it necessary to acknowledge the work of a fellow Realtor outside of the relm of real estate.  The Owner of Coldwell Banker Advantage, Dan Roberts was recognized by the Mayor of Cedar City for his outstanding volunteerism in the community.  Dan has recently been the chairman of the Korean War Memorial at our Vetrans Park.  He was recognized for this and various other areas that he has worked in our community.  Dan is a retired Colonel from the US Army.

It is always a good thing when Realtors step up and lead out in our communities.  As a resident of Cedar City I thank Dan Roberts for his service to us here.  As an American I thank Dan and other Veterans of the Military Services.  Here is the link to the Mayor's Message:http://www.cedarcity.org/DocumentView.asp?DID=378

Pioneer Days

Here in Utah we have our Pioneer Days Celebrations upcoming.  In Salt Lake City the event is called the Days of '47.  Here in Cedar City on July 24th we will have a parade on Main Street between 400 South and 200 North at 10AM.  There will be activities at the Main Street City Park following the Parade.  The Main Street Park is located at the corner of 200 North and Main.  The parade is a lot of fun as church groups and neighborhoods build floats and have other entries for the parade.  It is a great small town parade.

The Pioneer Days Celebration is akin to other States' Founders Days.  It commemorates the entry of the Pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847.  Most small cities and towns will have similar celebrations to Cedar City's.  It is great fun, there won't be fireworks, so I have been told.  There is a firework ban in Cedar City.  They can be set off at both high schools and at the Bicentennial Park.

It is a great thing to come and be a part of!  Come on up and see us.  While you're here don't forget that now is a great time to buy property in Cedar City.  If you're looking to invest, looking to move, or looking for that second home now is the time!

Tuesday thoughts

I had in mind to write a blog about the pessimistic predicitons on the economy.  Then I decided to be positive instead.  We at our board luncheon last week learned that at Wells Fargo mortgage loan applications had risen 7% over the previous month.  We are getting more traffic on our web site and calls on our signs and houses.  In our office more agents are showing homes to qualified buyers and more offers are being submitted.

The Home Run Derby last night offered some amazing shots.  Hamilton hit a couple that looked like they had a chance of going out of Yankee Stadium.  The Rays with a payroll somewhere around A Rod and Manny Ramirez combined is a half a game out of first place.  The Cubs have a good chance of having enough Pitching and defense to go to the World Series.

I was thinking the other day that I have in my lifetime seen things that my father born in 1920 never saw or heard of in his lifetime.  Sure he lived through the Great Depression, World War, the Korean War, all of Vietnam, the Cold War.  But he never saw nor heard the Red Sox win the World Series not once but twice!  He never saw the White Sox win the world series either.  Plus there may be a chance that the Cubs win the World Series.

I guess my point is anybody can be negative.  It is the easy road.  It takes work to be positive.  To be really successful you need to be positive!  Have a Great Day!
